Thousands of Trinamool Congress workers from the Sundarbans area of North 24 Parganas gathered on Monday to attend a public rally led by party leader Abhishek Banerjee at Kachhari Ground in Barasat. Supporters from remote panchayats such as Sahabkhali, Dulduli, and Gobindakati crossed rivers early in the morning using boats to reach Lebukhali bus stand before proceeding to the rally venue by buses, chanting slogans of “Abhishek Banerjee Zindabad.”
The rally is being seen as significant ahead of the 2026 assembly elections, with the large turnout from far-flung areas highlighting the party’s reach and grassroots support in the region. Party leaders and organizers emphasized the effort made by workers to attend, signaling strong mobilization and enthusiasm for the upcoming electoral campaign.
